Tried renaming the SMTP address, didn't stop the duplication Users CC'd into the email were not getting duplicate emails, it was only the shared mailbox that was affected Checked message tracking logs, only saw one instance of the message being sent/received (was sent from an external address and had a couple of attachments, nothing abnormal) Checked the Exchange Queue Viewer, there were no duplicate emails queued up on any of the primary or secondary mailbox servers. Also, the emails were being duplicated so quickly that it caused the entire database to run out of space and dismount, so again, highly unlikely that a client was causing this. The users say that the second Junk folder appeared around the same time the duplication started. Not sure how the second folder got there (it's called "Junk E-Mail" as opposed to the system default "Junk Email"). The emails all had the exact same header and timestamp and they were all going into not one, but TWO junk email folders. It seems this was occurring on a database level rather than being caused by an external rule or clients.
So we ran into a strange issue recently where an email in a particular shared mailbox was being duplicated hundreds of thousands of times within a matter of hours.
